Background:The 2019 / 2020 outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, first in China and later across the globe, has affected millions of people’s lives with restrictions to travel, socializing, work and business routines and the loss of loved ones. It has led to two polar opposites happening at the same time. People self-quarantined in their homes and isolated themselves from the larger communities, but it also led to people seeking for new ways to meet with one another, share and support each other during this time of crisis.
Even now, as the situation is beginning to normalize and measures of self-isolation are being relaxed in China, there is still no telling when, or if, things will ever return to a pre-outbreak sense of normalcy.
For this reason, we are setting up the ‘locked Down, not Out’ Online Exhibition and Charity Auction as a platform for artists from all over China to share their impressions, moods and messages during the pandemic and to raise funds for a charitable cause by supporting “Lianpen” project which is held by Chinese Relief & Development Foundation
